REMINDER – Parent Orientation (Required)

September 2nd, 2021

We hope you have all the information you need to know for the first day of school, but we have more details to share (and you may have more questions to ask). Our parent orientation will cover school procedures and policies as well as classroom rhythms and routines. While both parents are encouraged to attend, only one parent is required to participate. Please note this event is for parents only, and childcare will not be available. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. The all-school orientation will begin promptly at 6:30. It will be followed by classroom break-out sessions at 7:15 where parents will have the opportunity to hear from classroom teachers. A social hour hosted by the Parent Service Fellowship Committee will conclude the evening.

A make-up date will be announced for parents unable to attend that evening.

First Day of School – What You Need to Know

August 29th, 2021

We are eager to welcome students back to school! We pray the Lord’s blessings for your family this year as we join together to learn and grow in our pursuit of all that is true, noble, right, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy! (Philippians 4:8)

When: Tuesday, September 7
School begins at 8:00 a.m. Students should arrive no later than 7:50 so they can put their things in their lockers and prepare for their first class. Students arriving after 8:00 a.m. need to be accompanied by a parent to the office. Afternoon dismissal is at 3:00 p.m. at the church narthex doors (upper parking lot). Students are to be picked up by 3:15.

Who: All students – including kindergarteners, even though Tuesday is not normally a kindergarten day
Parents may accompany their children as they enter the school on Tuesday morning and are welcome to stay for Morning Prayer. Though health screening guidelines are no longer in place, we still want to keep our students and staff healthy. Anyone showing symptoms of illness is asked to refrain from entering the building.

What to wear: All students should wear their PE uniforms.
Those who ordered shirts from the online store can pick them up at the open house and picnic on August 31 or during office hours next week.

What to bring: School supplies (if you didn’t bring them to the open house), food for snack and lunch, and a water bottle
Please label your child’s belongings!

How to start any day well: Help your child get a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast!

Please contact the office if you have question. The school will be closed next Friday and Monday (Labor Day) for the holiday weekend. Many other important details about this school year will be sent in next week’s newsletter and covered at the required parent orientation on Wednesday, September 8, at 6:30 p.m.

Open House and Picnic Next Tuesday – August 31

August 29th, 2021

Come see the classrooms, drop off school supplies, visit with teachers, and stay for fellowship and fun! Bring your dinner and a blanket for a picnic on the lawn near the playground. If you would like to drop off your child(ren)’s school supplies that evening, please do so between 6:00 and 6:30. Classrooms will close at 6:30 so teachers can enjoy the picnic time as well. If your family is not able to attend, students may bring supplies on the first day of school.

The entire family is invited, and you are free to come and go as needed. Because of the elevated risk level for COVID in our community and the local positivity rate, masks are recommended by the CDC, regardless of one’s vaccination status. Masks are not required for the open house or picnic, however.

COVID Update – Looking Ahead to 2021-22

August 5th, 2021

As we continue to enjoy our summer, we are preparing for a return to a more “normal” school year. As COVID-related guidance seems to be changing, we want to make sure that parents and students know what we anticipate this year will look like:

Still One Uniform a Day
Parents, teachers, and students all appreciated the elimination of uniform changing at school last year on PE days. By now you have probably read that we are keeping that modification. Students need only one uniform a day, so please make sure it is in excellent condition and fits well. Less to pack, less to remember, less to wash!

Bring a Beach Towel
You will notice that we kept the beach towel on the school supply list. We plan to enjoy lunch outside in the fresh, open air again this year when the weather is favorable, and the towel is great accessory.

Microwaves are Available
Microwaves will again be available for student use at lunch time. If you do send something for your student to warm up, you will need to send the appropriate dish. Please note: The microwave is for warming up food, not cooking it. Using the microwave to cook food results in dishes that are too hot for students to handle safely.

FAQs
Will orientation, conferences, and other events be in person?
Yes, all our events will be in person.

Welcome, Miss Guidone!

August 5th, 2021

Liana Guidone is a graduate of Hillsdale College, where she studied English Literature and classical education and was involved in ballet, piano, and community leadership. Growing up in a homeschooled family of ten, Miss Guidone enjoyed assisting her mother in the education of her younger siblings. She continued to grow in her love of working with children through her time as a camp counselor, and her passion for education was increased by her education classes at Hillsdale. Miss Guidone believes it is the intentional focus on student character that sets the classical approach apart from other forms of education, and she hopes to pursue a Master’s degree in classical education in the future. We are glad to have Miss Guidone guide our 5th through 8th grade students in the reading of great works of literature and in the discipline and art of writing.

Please note this event is for parents only, and childcare will not be available. New This Year – Classical Parent Partners

August 5th, 2021

Many private schools have volunteer hour requirements for their parents; Trinitas is proposing an educational alternative to volunteer hours: Classical Parent Partners. As part of this program, we hope to host educational events throughout the year like Protect Young Eyes and book, article, or video discussions. We will also continue to regularly post our Classical Christian Education pieces and provide a variety of resources you can use at home in connection with our Virtue of the Quarter. We are exploring other ideas as well.

Spread the Word with Trinitas Apparel!

August 5th, 2021

On any given school day, you may see Classical Ed striking his “disco” pose in a classroom, in the gym, or on the playground. Our Trinitas t-shirts aren’t just for PE days at school, however. They can be effective marketing tools, so we hope Classical Ed is having many adventures beyond 52nd Street! Have you worn your Trinitas t-shirt (Classical Ed or otherwise) on vacation this summer? At the beach? Around town? We encourage the whole family to show some school spirit and spread the word about Trinitas. Place your order soon! Our online store closes August 17. Orders will be available at the open house on August 31.
