Print-Friendly Version

Classroom Notes:

Monday – Art
Wednesday – Music
Friday – PE

Thank you for helping your child prepare for speech meet.  They did a great job!

Please label your child’s boots, mittens, hat and snowpants.  It is easy for these things to get mixed up with other kids’ outdoor clothing!

What We’re Learning:

SSRW: We are working on identifying short vowels in words and blending three letter words.

Handwriting: We will work on writing letters Oo and Aa.

Poetry: We will learn a poem called “What Can I Give Him” by Christina Rosetti

Math: We will work to represent and identify numbers to 20.

Geography: We will read about, and make a picture of, Abraham Lincoln.

Science: We will be studying weather, looking specifically at water as a solid, a liquid and a gas.

Bible Story:  We will hear the story of the Israelites receiving manna from heaven and water from a rock.

Virtue Study: As we focus on the virtue of FRIENDSHIP this quarter, remember this simple idea expressed by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “The only way to have a friend is to be one.” An anonymous poem captures this same thought: “I went out to find a friend but could not find one there. I went out to be a friend, and friends were everywhere!”

Homework

I am sending home a phonics page that focuses on short vowels.

Our Bible verse for December is:  Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”    Luke 2:10-11
