What We’re Learning:
Phonics: We will work on identifying lowercase letters, as well as focusing on letters R, S and T.
Poetry: We will continue to work on a poem called, “A Wise Old Owl”.
Math: We will practice numbers to ten and learn about ordinal positions.
Geography: We will continue to read about Michigan and paint a picture of our state flower, the apple blossom.
Science: We will be using the leaves collected during the field trip to make a book.
Bible Story: We will hear the story of Joseph.
Virtue: Jesus summarized all of God’s law in two commandments; one of them is: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Talk as a family about what this looks like in practice. Who can your student include in their circle of friends that is sometimes excluded? How can they do this? What things can we say or do when others are being unkind to someone, either to their face or behind their back? It’s good for parents to think and talk about these things for our own circles too!
Homework
We are scheduled for show & tell on Friday. The theme is two items that rhyme (for example a stuffed “cat” and a winter “hat”). We will show one item and play a guessing game for the second item.
Keep working on memorizing your speech meet selection, including title and author.
Our Bible verse for October is Psalm 139:13-14
“For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
