Reader’s Theater Puppet Plays

February 14th, 2019 by Trinitas Classical

Our K-2 Thoughtful Reader group enjoyed reading Kermit the Hermit, and soon they will be able to see that story in puppet form! This year’s Reader’s Theater puppet plays will be two stories by Bill Peet. The other story will be How Droofus the Dragon Lost His Head.

Students in grades 3-6 are asked to tell their teachers if they plan to participate in Reader’s Theater by next Friday, February 22. Rehearsals will be held on Fridays in March at 2:00 until the end of the day. Students will have the opportunity to read and be a puppeteer. The plays will be presented on March 29. Parents and younger siblings are welcome to attend!

Book Character Day and Thoughtful Reader – At Last!

February 14th, 2019 by Trinitas Classical

We were starting to think Book Character Day and Thoughtful Reader might have to be moved to May to avoid the possibility of another postponement, so it was to everyone’s relief that both events finally happened on Wednesday! We enjoyed seeing all the creative costumes and hearing about good books to add to our reading lists.

Thoughtful Reader Book Club Discussions

February 7th, 2019 by Trinitas Classical

Our plans to celebrate great literature shall not be thwarted by this wretched winter weather! We have rescheduled the Thoughtful Reader groups for the following times on Wednesday, February 13.

11:00 – 11:35 a.m. – The Cricket in Times Square and A Wrinkle in Time (5th/6th)

1:15 – 2:00 p.m. – Book-related activities for grades K-2

2:10 – 2:55 p.m. – A Wrinkle in Time (7th/8th)

Please note this is the day after Parent Information Night, and we will have a one hour delay that morning. This literary celebration, along with Book Character Day, will be a fun way to celebrate students’ hard work the evening before. Please help all the readers pack their books, the list of books they have recorded, and their discussion questions for that day.

Weather-Related Delays and Cancellations

February 7th, 2019 by Trinitas Classical

We are grateful for everyone’s continued patience and understanding as we endured yet another difficult week of ill-timed ice and snow. While we are committed to having school whenever possible, we are equally committed to the safety of our families and staff. Disruptions are felt at home and in the classroom, and the last several weeks have taken their toll on everyone in our little corner of Michigan. Please know that we will attempt to get by with a delay if it appears that the weather and roads may clear in time for a later start, but the decision to send your child is ultimately yours. If you deem travel unsafe, you may call or email the office to have the absence excused. As always, thank you for partnering with Trinitas in the pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.

Important Parent Information Night Reminders

February 7th, 2019 by Trinitas Classical

UPDATE: Parent Information Night has been moved to Tuesday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m. We will not have a one hour delay on Wednesday, February 13.

We anticipate a number of visiting families for Parent Information Night next Tuesday. Parent Information Night is one of our most important events of the year. Please take note of the following information.

Full-time students are expected to participate. Attendance for homeschool partners is optional. If your family has prior obligations, please inform Mr. Marth or your classroom teacher to excuse your child(ren) from the event.

Students should arrive in dress uniform by 6:45 pm and gather in the music room. The program will start in the sanctuary at 7:00 pm. Following the program, we will invite our guests to the classroom wing to enjoy some refreshments while they visit with parents and faculty. Students will go to designated rooms for a time of fellowship and games.

Please park in the church’s main lot, which is accessible from Maple Creek Ave SE (the 2nd street east of Kalamazoo), and use the main entrance to the building as the event will begin in the sanctuary.

Thank you! We look forward to welcoming our guests and sharing with them what makes Trinitas a special community!

Book Character Day Rescheduled for February 13

February 7th, 2019 by Trinitas Classical

You never know what you will see walking into school on Book Character Day. A hobbit, a magician, or maybe even a Star-Bellied Sneetch? But don’t ask who they are. You will have to guess! Students will present clues about their characters to their classmates during a break. It is a fun-filled day, and the students come home eager to read new books. Character ideas must be submitted to the classroom teacher for approval. They can be Biblical or historical figures as well as characters from modern or classic literature. They can be from movies so long as the movie was originally a book.
