What a joy it has been getting to know your kids this year!  Thank you for entrusting them to me.  I hope you all have a wonderful and restful summer.

What We’re Learning:

SSRW: We will read together and share our books with the older kids.

Handwriting: We will finish up our handwriting books.

Math:  We will celebrate our 100th day of school on Wednesday with 100’s day themed activities.

GeographyWe will do a craft that summarizes our study of geography this year.

Science: We will take a nature walk and make a recording in our nature notebooks.  These notebooks will come home with your child and can be used during the summer too!

Bible Story: We will hear the story of Jesus’ Ascension.

Virtue Study: Examples of LOYALTY in literature are often good sources of inspiration for virtue. C.S. Lewis provides one such example in Reepicheep, Prince Caspian’s bravest and most loyal knight (who also happens to be a small mouse): “’My friendship you shall have, learned Man,’ piped Reepicheep. ‘And any Dwarf—or Giant—in the army who does not give you good language shall have my sword to reckon with.’” May we be loyal in defending our friends as well (even if no swords are needed)! Prince Caspian is well-worth reading and watching (or re-reading and re-watching) together!

Homework

Wednesday we will have a special 100th day snack that I will bring in, so no need to send a snack that day (but do please send a lunch!)

Also, if you want, your child can bring in 100 pieces of the same thing (100 pennies, 100 stickers, 100 page book, 100 paperclips, etc).  We will sort and count these for fun.

On Friday we will have our final Show & Tell.  The theme is “a favorite summer activity”.  Your child can tell us what that is, or bring something to show for this.  Either option is fine!
