Notes:

  • Read the Asia book together at home. See folder for the way your student planned to complete the project.
  • See the home folder for due dates for the flag, report, and feast!
  • Rook No Further…Chess Club is continuing another week. We’d love to have parent helpers for it on Friday afternoons.
  • We will have a field trip to Peter Pan Jr. in the morning on February 14.
  • Remember Book Character Day is coming up in March. Be thinking about a historical, Biblical, or book character your child might be – and get approval before assembling a costume! Please let us know your choice by Feb. 21.

What We’re Learning…

History & Geography – We will learn our final Asia song, “The Russian Federation”. We will read Chapter 22, which includes Irish and Indian history.
Language Arts– We are completing our reading of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Reading Buddies – 3rd and 4th graders read with a K buddy on Fridays.

Math – 3rd grade will start a unit on mental math. 4th grade will measure area and perimeter.

Grammar – We are learning about direct objects, contractions, and verb tenses.

Latin – We will work on Ch. 17 and have our test on Friday.

Bible– We are reflecting on Jesus’ parables.

Science –  We are learning the names of our muscles as we study the human body.

Virtue of the Quarter –As we focus on the virtue of PERSEVERANCE, we are also working on the Discipline with Purpose skill of Communication. You can reinforce this skill at home by reminding everyone in your family to WAIT and listen closely until the other person has finished speaking and to THINK, “What words can I use that will correctly and kindly represent what I want to say?”

Music & Art – Our composer highlight is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and our new artist of the quarter is Leonardo da Vinci.
