Unit IV timeline and Bible memory test Tuesday. Students will search for answers to the Ultimate Questions as they read Galatians and the portion of Acts about Paul’s second missionary journey. L. 23 Bible memory (below) is due Thursday, and L. 23 UQs are due Friday upon arrival.
Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or
‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
For after all these things the Gentiles seek.
For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness,
and all these things shall be added to you.
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

LITERATURE AND COMPOSITION (Stevens)
N.B.: As we start Uncle Tom’s Cabin, I wanted parents to know that we are approaching the work with sensitivity to the racially demeaning language that appears in the narrative at times—we will be asking questions about why people functioned within racist worldviews in the context of the novel, and wrestling in our discussion and writing with questions of injustice and bigotry, but we will not be saying any of those words aloud in our class readings as a matter of respect and propriety. I have taught this novel several times at the college level, and it is a moving and challenging work, that celebrates the possibilities of redemptive, Christ-like love in the most difficult of circumstances. I think the students will learn much about discernment and good judgment during this unit. If anyone has questions or comments, just give me an email and I would love to chat.
For Uncle Tom’s Cabin this week, we are going to work through Chs. 26-31, and to complete Days 14-16 from the workbook.
For composition, we’ll have complete drafts of our Essay due, typed and submitted by Monday, with my comments submitted by Wednesday, and the comments resolved and final draft completed by Friday.

Students received a composer of the month assignment this week. Students are to read the biography and then complete the “Job Application” as thought he/she is Sergei Prokofiev, using the information from the biography. Assignment is due 3/25/26.
VIRTUE
What does a magical, musical British nanny have in common with an ancient Greek philosopher? Mary Poppins and Aristotle both said, “Well begun is half done!” Talk about this quote and then find a way to put it into practice this weekend. And, please plan to join us next Wednesday for our Virtue Chapel on Honesty. Pastor Stacy Vanden Berge from Kentwood Community Church will be our guest speaker.
