Re-enrollment forms are going home with families today.  Please check your child’s folder for this important paper.

Next Wednesday we will have our 100th day of school. I have 100 themed activities throughout the day, including a snack (so just pack a lunch).

Next Friday, February 21, we are planning a special Friday Focus with outdoor winter activities.  Please make sure that your child comes to school with snow clothes that day!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Feb 20- Discover Trinitas Night.  Please spread the word to families who may be interested in enrolling for next year.

Feb 28- Thoughtful Reader book activity for The Princess and The Goblin (in school).    We hope you are enjoying this story together at home. Additionally, each student received a TR bookmark to record books that they are reading (or being read to them) at home.

March 12  – Book Character Day, come dressed as your favorite character.

What We’re Learning:

Phonics: We will be working with r-blends.  Students will be reading a story called, “Nick’s Big Win”.

Handwriting: Students will be writing N and n.

Math: We will be working on number bonds and simple addition.

Geography: We will read about and paint a map of South America.

Bible Story: We will hear the story of David.  Our Bible timeline song sings, “David plays his harp and writes the psalms”.

Science: We will begin another study of materials, this time focusing on paper.  Students will observe and compare ten different types of paper, and go on a paper hunt.

Virtue:  In addition to reading stories and scripture and discussing SELF-DISCIPLINE, we are practicing the Discipline with Purpose skills of Communication and Organization. It takes self-discipline to wait your turn to talk and to try to express yourself clearly and kindly. And it takes self-discipline to keep things in their proper place and record tasks in an assignment log. These are skills that can be practiced at home too!

Homework

For homework I am sending home the book “Pep Can Help”.  Please have your child read this to you, initial on the book, then return next week.  Thank you!

Our verse for February is Matthew 22:37-39:

Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
