March 6- Book Character Day, come dressed as your favorite book character.  Please email me your child’s selection by Monday Feb. 26.  Students who don’t wish to participate can come dressed in daily uniform on March 6 (but we encourage everyone to participate!)

What We’re Learning:

SSRW: We will read stories with short letter “o”: Hop on Frog and Bob and Spot.

Handwriting: Students will work on writing Mm and Hh.

Math: We will continue to model and work with numbers to 20.

Geography: We will read about and paint a map of South America.

Bible Story: We will hear more of the story of Gideon.

Science: We will make paper out of pulp (from water and recycled bits of paper).

Virtue: During February, we also focus on the Discipline with Purpose skill of Organization – When we organize time, space, people, or things, we WAIT until we get a mental image of the way things are to be ordered, and we THINK about what design, timeframe, schedule, container, or space will work well. The mid-winter break may be a good time for an organizational project. Don’t forget to celebrate with something fun afterward!

Homework

For homework I am sending home a phonics page.  This might be tricky for some students, but I hope it will be a good challenge.  If this is easy for your child, you could challenge them to also write a sentence or two using some of the given words on the back of the page.

Our Bible memory for February is Matthew 22:37-39.

Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
