What We’re Learning:

SSRW: This week we will work on writing blends and short sentences.  We will read a book called “Al’s Pal”.

Math: We will work on numbers to 20.

Geography: We will read about and make a Statue of Liberty for our Geography folders.  We will also learn a song about the presidents.

Science:  We continue our study of materials, specifically wood.  This week students will use a glue made from cornstarch and wood shavings to make particleboard.

Bible Story:  We will hear the story of Moses receiving the Ten Commandments.

Virtue:  While next quarter’s virtue focus will be PERSEVERANCE, we do not leave COMPASSION behind. Be sure to look in your student’s backpack for Home Connection Materials and watch for additional materials in February. We hope your family will engage with and be blessed by the scripture, reading, discussion topics, films, and practice ideas. Just a reminder that these materials are part of our Parent Partnership Credit program. Be sure to take a few minutes to fill out your forms. Links to a digital copy of the Compassion Home Connection Materials and the PPC Quarter One and Quarter Two Forms can be found at the bottom of this newsletter. The Quarter One Form will stay open through January; the Quarter Two Form will stay open through the third quarter.

In music class, K-4 students will be exploring tempo and dynamics over the next couple of weeks with music samples from Mahler, Grieg, and Brahms.

Homework

For homework I am sending home a math page.

Our verse for January is Psalm 139:13-14

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.”
