Kindergarten: Week of March 21, 2022

Print-Friendly Version

Classroom Notes:

As the weather warms up, the playground gets muddier! An extra set of clothes in the locker (including underwear and socks) is very helpful for if your child falls into a mud puddle or has some other mishap at recess. Rain or snow boots at recess are also very helpful.

Monday – Art
Wednesday – Music
Friday – PE, End of 3rd Quarter-Color Day

What We’re learning:

SSRW: Next week we will read the story “Fred Fox”.  I will also introduce students to “silent e”.

Handwriting: We will work on writing N, n and M.

Math: We will continue to practice addition and subtraction as well as reading time on a clock.

Geography: We will read about Asia and practice simple paper folding (origami).

Science: We will investigate different types of papers.

Bible Story: We will hear the story of the three youths in the fiery furnace.

Virtue: Last week, we mentioned cultivating habits of stillness in order to grow the virtue of FAITH. How do our phones interfere with stillness? Some ideas to try during Lent: Pray or read scripture before turning your phone on in the morning. Don’t use your phone in the presence of others. Put it in a drawer for three hours at a time. Turn it off an hour or more before bedtime. Have a phone sabbath each week.

Homework

For homework I am sending home a phonics sheet.

Our verse for March is Psalm 139:13-14

For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.”
