What We’re Learning:

Phonics: We will focus on letters U, V and W. Students have been working on phonological awareness skills: rhymes, syllables, beginning and ending sounds, and substituting sounds to create new words.

Poetry: We will continue to work on a poem called, “Who Has Seen the Wind?” by Christina Rossetti.

Math: We will work on “one more than” numbers up to 20.

Geography: We will paint a picture of our state tree, the white pine.  We are also reading the book, “Paddle to the Sea”.

Science: We will finish our leaf books and wrap up our study of trees.

Bible Story:  We will hear the second half of the story of Joseph.

Virtue: Henry Ford said, “My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.” This quote would make a good prompt for dinner-time conversation. How can we bring out the best in each other? As we end our quarter one focus on the virtue of FRIENDSHIP, we shift to our quarter two focus on FAITH—it’s a good time to ask how we and our friends can help each other follow our Lord more closely.

Homework

Our Bible verse for November is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18:

“Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

I am sending home a beginning sounds phonics page.  Please help your child to complete at home and return next week.  Thank you!
