What We’re Learning:

SSRW: We will work on letters S, T, and U.  We are also practicing making and recognizing rhymes.

Handwriting: We will put the basic strokes to work!  This week students will practice writing Ll, Ii and Tt.

Poetry: We will work with a poem called “The Wise Old Owl”.

Math: We will learn about solid shapes: sphere, cube, cone, and block.

Geography: We will paint a picture of our state fossil, the Petoskey stone, and add to our Geography folder.

Science: We will take a nature walk and sketch some trees in our notebooks. Students will also be bringing home their leaf collection books.

Bible Story:  We will hear the story of Joseph.

Virtue:

As the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle observed, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence [virtue] then, is not an act, but a habit.” It may seem simple, but it’s not easy–we become compassionate not by a single kind act but by repeatedly acting in compassionate ways.

Homework

Our Bible memory for October is Psalm 34:1-3

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

I am sending home a count by 10’s math page.  Please help your child to complete it and return by Friday.
