COVID Update – Thanksgiving Break Precautions

November 23rd, 2021

For both the health of our community and to help us keep students and teachers in the classrooms in the days and weeks ahead, please be mindful about illness prevention when celebrating Thanksgiving or other holiday weekend events. We all need to do our part as COVID cases continue to surge in the region.

NOTICE: If a friend or family member with whom you spent Thanksgiving (or other time over break) begins to exhibit any of the COVID symptoms prior to your child’s return to school on Monday, November 29, we urge to you exercise caution and keep your child(ren) home from school until more is known about your loved one’s health situation. If someone you were around on Thanksgiving Day becomes ill on Friday or Saturday, you were then exposed to the virus, as it can be spread 48 hours prior to the appearance of symptoms.

Virtue Update – FRIENDSHIP

November 23rd, 2021

In an essay on Hamlet, C.S. Lewis said this about FRIENDSHIP: “The next best thing to being wise oneself is to live in a circle of those who are.” Having good friends is not only a delight in itself but it is also necessary to help us become the people God intends us to be. Let us pray regularly to be surrounded by good friends and to be good friends to those around us.

Spread the Word About Trinitas!

November 23rd, 2021

Did you choose Trinitas because a friend, family member, or neighbor told you about it? While print or Google ads can cast a wide net, offering a personal invitation to someone always has a greater impact. We are planning several events for prospective families again this year: two open houses, an in-person information night, and a virtual one. We encourage you to start thinking of guests to invite!

Annual Fund Flyer

November 23rd, 2021

Trinitas would not exist without the strong support of our community: staff, board, families, donors, and alumni. We are thankful for you all! Please be watching for our annual fund flyer and be prayerfully considering how you might support Trinitas this year. Our annual fund is our one and only fundraiser for the year! We will not send you donation appeals every month. We will not ask you to sell gift wrap, magazines, or popcorn. Year after year, we have been blessed by the generosity of our community, allowing us to offer a truly unique educational experience to our students.

Speech Meet Postponed

November 22nd, 2021

Due to the number of students absent because of COVID or other illness, we postponed the Speech Meet until the Wednesday after Thanksgiving Break, December 1. Guest attendance that day may depend on the current COVID situation. We do still plan to stream the all-school round via Zoom.

Lessons and Carols – December 17

November 22nd, 2021
The classroom choirs and small ensemble continue to rehearse our Lessons and Carols program on Friday, December 17. At this point, we are preparing for both live and recorded options, depending on the circumstances. Please watch newsletters for updates.

CCE Corner – Lives of Faith, Reason, and Virtue: Dante

November 14th, 2021

As we continue the discussion of our new tagline, “cultivating lives of faith, reason, and virtue,” we’d like to draw attention again to our 100 Days of Dante reading group. It’s not too late to join!* Dante begins The Divine Comedy with these words: “Midway upon the journey of our life I found myself in a dark wilderness, for I had wandered from the straight and true.” Dante’s epic poem is a profound picture of the life of faith, reason, and virtue as a journey from that dark wilderness to heavenly light. As Dr. Brian Williams observes in his reflections on Canto 6, such a life is a turning from earthly vices to heavenly rewards; a journey in which our intellect, affections and wills become “upright, wholesome, and free.” Dante and Dr. Williams draw a profound contrast between a life of “mud pies, cold rain, and eternal emptiness” and one of “living water, warm bread, and nourishing wine freely offered at our Lord’s table.” We hope Trinitas helps students see that contrast too. Even if you haven’t been reading Dante, Dr. Williams’ twelve-minute reflection on Canto 6 of Inferno is well worth a listen!

*You can still sign up for 100 Days of Dante. We are looking forward to our first discussion group on Friday, December 3, at 7:00 p.m. We’d love to have you join us! The videos and readings are short. If you would like to watch or listen to what you have missed, you can search YouTube–just type “inferno canto [#]” and you should be able to find any of the videos that have been posted by Baylor Honors College’s Dante project.

Speech Meet Next Wednesday

November 12th, 2021

Speech Meet is almost here! We hope students have found opportunities to practice for family and friends! Remember that Speech Meet is a dress uniform event. Students should arrive next Wednesday, November 17, in dress uniform.

Guests are welcome, but you may also watch the all-school round via Zoom starting at 10:15 a.m. Please make sure your name clearly identifies you (at least first name and last initial) so we can let you into the Zoom meeting. You can find the link in the November 12 all-school newsletter.

The Zoom link may be shared with grandparents, but we also need clear identification from them, e.g., “grandparent” with student first name and last initial. Please note that students should not be listed by full name on Zoom. We should also note that our office will be unable to take calls regarding Zoom issues or tech support during that time.

We wish to thank a very generous friend of the school for making the evening possible! We are happy to report that turnout for the film far surpassed theater expectations and it is now extended from November 12 through 18. For more information and to get tickets, click here.
