Virtue Update – FRIENDSHIP

December 15th, 2021

“The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

May all our homes be adorned with the beauty of family and friends this Advent and Christmas.

Trinitas Annual Fund Update – December 10

December 13th, 2021

We are almost halfway to our goal! Members and supporters of the Trinitas community have donated almost $23,000 so far. With the available 50% match, that brings our total over $34,000! There is still over $13,500 in matching funds available. Please prayerfully consider how you might support Christian classical education this season. Every gift makes a difference. Please click here to donate today!

Another way to support the Trinitas community is to spread the word about the school! Do you know a family looking for a place to learn, live, and love truth, goodness, and beauty? Do you know a family that might be interested in investing in the pursuit of faith, reason, and virtue? Invite them to our upcoming Open House on January 12!

January Open House – Invite Your Friends!

December 13th, 2021

We are looking forward to our winter Open House on January 12. As you gather with friends and loved ones during the upcoming break, we hope you might have opportunities to tell others about Trinitas. Please share this Open House registration link!

Soon after we return to school in January, you will be given marketing materials to help us advertise our events for prospective families. Churches are often willing to include open house announcements in their Sunday bulletins and weekly newsletters. Please consider asking your church office about that.

Lessons and Carols – Friday, December 17

December 10th, 2021

We hope you will join us for a “Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols” at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 17. Doors will open at 9:55, and student-performed prelude music will begin at 10:10. We will be sharing a shortened version of the traditional service that has been held at King’s College in Cambridge for over 100 years. (Click here to read the interesting history of that service.)

Please park in the upper lot (access from Maple Creek Ave., not 52nd St.) and enter through the church narthex doors.

We are still working with the sound crew from St. Mark to determine how we can best record the event for those who will not be with us in person, and we hope to share a recording after the event.

For those who would like to attend in person, we do want to advise that health agencies strongly recommend wearing a face mask indoors at this time. That said, we also want guests to be aware that students have the option not to wear a face mask for this Christmas service.

100 Days of Dante – Join the Pilgrimage

December 10th, 2021

Speaking of book clubs…We recently had an engaging fireside discussion of Dante’s Inferno. If you missed the first part of his Divine Comedy, it’s not too late to join us! The 100 Days of Dante project is surprisingly easy to keep up with and delightfully deep at the same time. While it may go against the spirit of a book club, we’d like to invite you to simply watch the videos on YouTube or listen to the podcasts each week if you don’t feel ready to commit to reading the text. They’re around ten minutes long (a half-hour per week). You can get “the education you wish you had” while driving in the car, riding a stationary bike, or folding laundry. Those who have been watching/listening have been informed, intrigued, and inspired!

Morning Prayer Time

December 10th, 2021

A group of parents meets in the Media Center on Wednesday mornings following Morning Prayer to pray faithfully for our school. You are invited to join them for this blessed time of fellowship and intercession. Come regularly or whenever you can make it. Coffee is available in the office before and after the prayer meeting. Children are welcome to come along with a quiet activity.

Give the Gift of Warmth

December 10th, 2021

We will continue to collect winter outerwear and accessories for Mel Trotter Ministries’ Code Blue Drive. New or gently used men’s, women’s, and children’s winter outerwear and accessories may be brought to the school office until next Friday. Mel Trotter is in urgent need of winter coats for men and women (all sizes). Please note the drive runs at Mel Trotter until December 31, so you may still participate by bringing items directly to Mel Trotter after the 17th.

Studying Words? “Bee” Creative!

December 10th, 2021

We will return from Christmas break on January 3. The Spelling Bee is Wednesday, January 12. It will be here before you know it! While not every child will choose to study word lists during the break, if your family enjoys playing games over the holidays, consider turning those Bee words into a creative game of your own design!

Virtue Update – FRIENDSHIP

December 10th, 2021

There’s a popular principle in classical education circles: multum non multa, which means “much, not many”. It’s often used to express a preference for quality over quantity, for depth over the superficial. It’s a good principle for FRIENDSHIP too. In a culture that has created the concepts of “Facebook Friend”, “followers”, and “likes”, it is good to remember we flourish when we invest in a few friendships more deeply.
