Spelling Bee – Wednesday, January 13

January 6th, 2021

Is your child R-E-A-D-Y for the Spelling Bee? We encourage everyone to keep studying this year’s Bee word lists. We are looking forward to some super spelling next week!

Chess Club Starting Soon

January 6th, 2021

It wouldn’t be winter at Trinitas without the Chess Club. The activity will be kept within each classroom this year, but there will still be much chess to play! The clubs will run four consecutive Friday afternoons, starting on January 22.

Reminder – Thoughtful Reader (TR)

January 6th, 2021

We hope students (and parents) had time for good reading over the break. It’s not too late to join our Thoughtful Reader Book Club! Discussion guides will be sent home with students or may be found in the school newsletter.

2021 Thoughtful Reader Selections:
Gr. 7-8 – Watership Down
Gr. 5-6 – Black Beauty
Gr. 3-4 – The Trumpet of the Swan
Gr. K-2 – Just So Stories

Students in Gr. 3-8 may choose among the many different editions of the book for their group, but the book should be unabridged. Gr. K-2 families may read any collection or retelling of the Just So Stories. Please see email sent on January 29 for more information.

Though many of our upper grade students read the TR book on their own, we think these are wonderful read-aloud books for kids of all ages. Parents, please consider joining your students for some family reading time!

Interesting Fact: Did you know Black Beauty helped bring about more humane treatment of horses in both England and the United States?

For those enrolled, the deadline to opt out of the Continuous Re-Enrollment Agreement is February 15. Watch for information to arrive with the 2nd quarter report cards near the end of the month. You will receive a note acknowledging if you have signed an agreement or not.

Trinitas Annual Fund Update – December 27

December 29th, 2020

Before the clock strikes twelve and the new year begins, we want to thank all those who have already given toward this year’s annual fund drive and to let everyone know that we still have $4,100 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds available until December 31. With your help, we have been able to raise almost $52,000 without selling a single candy bar or roll of wrapping paper, but we still have $18,000 to go before we reach this year’s goal. As 2020 comes to a close, please consider what you might be able to give in order to help us cultivate lives of faith, reason, and virtue in our children.

You may donate online or maximize your gift and avoid electronic processing fees by mailing a check payable to “Trinitas Classical Association.”

Thank you for supporting Christian classical education and the children and faculty of Trinitas!

Parent Information Night – January 12 at 6:30 p.m.

December 26th, 2020

With all of the uncertainty that surrounded (and still surrounds) the prospect of in-person learning for students this year, parents have faced difficult decisions about how best to raise up their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Will there even be in-person learning? How often, and for how long, will we have our children at home? If they are home, how hands-on will online learning be for us as parents? What will be the quality of virtual classes? Should we even enroll our child in school, or should we homeschool? Those questions occupied the minds of many families for the greater part of 2020.

With thanks to God for His protection and guidance, Trinitas opened the year with in-person learning and has continued to teach students face-to-face. It has taken a balance of adjusting to official safety requirements and protecting the integrity of our Christian, classical approach to learning. By God’s grace and the diligence of many, we continue to cultivate lives of faith, reason, and virtue in our physical classrooms.

If you are weighing your options for the second half of this school year or starting to think about your plans for next year, visit our website or join us for a conversation. Our headmaster will host an online informational meeting for parents on January 12 at 6:30 p.m. Click here to reserve your space or click on the “Register” button on the banner above.

Trinitas Annual Fund Update – December 18

December 21st, 2020

As of the middle of December, we have received just over $21,000 for the annual fund campaign. When we take the challenge grant into consideration, that brings us to $42,000 of our $70,000 goal. Don’t forget that the remaining matching funds will expire at the end of this month, and there is still $9,000 to match!

Worth remembering: You aren’t selling (or buying!) wrapping paper.

Most schools raise funds by selling goods, products, or services door-to-door and to relatives. This places undue pressure on whole families and on individual children. Moreover, the sales goal is inflated well above the school’s actual need because profits have to be shared with the manufacturer. Not so at Trinitas. Every dollar you give goes directly to the Christian classical education your child receives, and you haven’t been guilted into selling or buying a thing. How many rolls of wrapping paper would you have to sell to raise $70,000 anyway?

Thoughtful Reader – It’s Time to Read!

December 18th, 2020

Thoughtful Reader Book Club (TR) is here! Information flyers and bookmarks will be sent home with students today. We are also sending home our “Summer” Reading List. It’s a good list of really good books, and we are encouraging students to read from it for TR.

Christmas break is a terrific time to read and be read to. Don’t forget that books make great Christmas presents too! Happy reading!

Virtue Focus – PERSEVERANCE

December 18th, 2020

In Romans 15, St. Paul says, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.” And he offers this blessing, which we also extend to you: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” May you enjoy a blessed Advent, Christmas, and New Year!

Trinitas Annual Fund Update – December 11

December 10th, 2020

We are almost halfway there! By the middle of this week, we received over $15,500 in gifts–$31,000 with the matching grant. That leaves $39,000 to raise with $14,500 in dollar-for-dollar matching funds still available. If you have already given, thank you! If you have not yet sent a donation, please prayerfully consider what you might be able to give in support of Christian classical education this year. Every gift makes a difference. Please click here to donate today!

With this calendar year coming to a close, we are beginning to reach out to families who might be eager to join us next year as fellow travelers, raising children in the pursuit of faith, reason, and virtue. If you think about our funding goal for this year in terms of enrollment, it amounts to only eleven more students. Eleven students. Do you know someone who is looking for a place where their children can learn and love and live that which is noble, pure, and praiseworthy?
