Standardized Testing Week

April 22nd, 2022

Our students will take new standardized tests the week of May 2. It is all the more important they receive their necessary hours of sleep, along with a healthy breakfast in the morning, so they are prepared for the testing days. If possible, please avoid scheduling late night activities (relative to your child’s bedtime) on those evenings.

Grant Awarded to Trinitas

April 22nd, 2022

We are pleased to announce that Trinitas has received a Vital Worship grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship. The CICW website states, “Since 2000, Vital Worship grants have been awarded to worshiping communities and teacher-scholars in 45+ states and provinces and in 40+ denominations across the spectrum of Christian traditions, including Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Protestant, Pentecostal, and Non-Denominational communities.” Mrs. Poortenga and Mrs. Tellinghuisen submitted the application this winter after years of discussion and collaboration. Watch for details about what our project will look like in the coming year. Until then, please read the following post to learn about an upcoming opportunity that we are very excited about.

Save the Date – “Beauty and Worship” Event

April 22nd, 2022

You are invited to hear from Margarita Mooney, Founder and Executive Director of the Scala Foundation, and David Clayton, author of The Way of Beauty: Liturgy, Education, and Inspiration for Family, School, and College. This special presentation will be held in the St. Mark sanctuary on the evening of Tuesday, June 21, with a reception to follow. Registration will open soon.

This program is made possible through a Vital Worship Grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, Grand Rapids, Michigan, with funds provided by Lilly Endowment Inc.

Muffins with Mom

April 22nd, 2022

May is a busy month! Don’t forget to add Muffins with Mom, our own special Mother’s Day, to your calendar. Moms (or VIPs) are invited for fellowship and refreshments in Chapel Hall starting at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13. Students will join them at 2:30. Please park in the upper lot and use the church narthex doors.

Dress for the Weather – “Pokey Spring” Edition

April 22nd, 2022

We’ve sadly seen more snow showers than blooming buds this week (When are those trees going to turn green?), though Wednesday’s “convective” snow squall was quite fascinating. Spring will finally fully arrive soon, but temperatures can still vary greatly in April and May. Please make sure your child will be comfortably dressed at all times during the school day and remember to send gym shoes to school every day, even if it’s not a PE day, for Mileage Club. They are running (or briskly walking) every day at recess.

Virtue Update – GRATITUDE

April 22nd, 2022

Our virtue of the quarter is GRATITUDE: Who can you thank today?

Notae Latinae – Pep Rally, Rome’s Birthday & Election

April 21st, 2022

We have a great team heading to the MJCL Spring Conference. We want to send them off in style with a pep rally in the upper parking lot next Friday, April 29. Parents are welcome to park in the lot and join the fun, or they may view the fanfare from their place in the pick-up line. We plan to start around 2:40. Dismissal will still happen at the regular time.

Today is Rome’s 2,775th birthday! Legend has it that Romulus founded Rome on April 21, 753 BC. We celebrated with cake at lunch while the 7/8 Latin students gave their election speeches. Results are yet to come in, but it’s safe to say that our students soundly defeated their (fictitious) opponents. Optimē!

We still need your help spreading the news about Trinitas! Thank you for sharing our marketing materials and your own experience with friends. We would like to make churches aware of our upcoming open house on May 9 at 6:30 p.m. We would be grateful if you would take just a moment to forward this to your church office.

Virtue Update – GRATITUDE

April 14th, 2022

Altus Adventures has long played a role in helping us build character and community with our annual 7th and 8th grade backpacking trip and Friendship Days for 3rd and 4th graders. We are excited to welcome them to school for more activity-based lessons with our 5th and 6th grade class. As we all continue to focus on the virtue of GRATITUDE this quarter, look for Home Connection materials in your student’s backpack or in the all-school newsletter. We hope you’ll enjoy the resources with your family.
